R.I.P. Cort and Fatboy 2003-2012

Ryan Fleming has every reason to be upset with Bobby on today’s show: He forgot to eat, drank too much coffee, and succumbed to the sort of scatterbrained silliness that he apparently thinks is a side-effect of at least three major diseases he has almost zero working knowledge of. But it’s gonna take more than a woozy, imbecilic co-host to wreck his day, because he’s had one hell of a weekend, one that will change his life forever. Bobby didn’t just disappoint Ryan today, either – no, he made Cort’s life a little worse today too. 1) He remembered Cort’s birthday, and 2) He gave Cort the one gift guaranteed to ruin what life he has left. Other topics include: Alternative methods of car repair. Things you’re not supposed to do to Superman if you value your life. The maturation of video game storytelling, and how 2012 marked a huge jump forward on that front. Hobbit fatigue. A bunch of other stuff. Nothing like making sure the first show back from a big write-up in the paper is a disjointed, ridiculous mess.

-Fatboy, I’m no doctor, but I think this is probably what was happening to you

Also, congratulations Ryan!

Not a doctor here either, but just in case anyone is trying to manage their newly-discovered Type II Diabetes via podcast advice, the guys were kind of close, but then again…not really.

Diabetes means (layman as all hell) that the pancreas has trouble producing insulin, which breaks down sugars in the body. Therefore, blood sugar goes sky high and that can be super bad for you.

Injections of insulin are designed to replace the pancreas’ role in producing the same; the whole “eat a cookie” thing that Bobby was referring to is something that happens if a diabetic person accidentally injects too much insulin and drives their blood sugar way down, making them hypoglycemic to a dangerous degree and potentially putting them into insulin shock. In those unusual cases, they need extra sugar to live.

But in general, suggesting that a diabetic person eat a Snickers bar when they feel badly is…unwise.

As a Type I diabetic, I was laughing my balls off at you guys attempting to figure out WTF diabetes is. Funny as hell! Also, I should apparently never eat Junior Mints, because according to Cort, my feet will explode. You guys are awesome. Gonna miss listening to you.
